Today we’re going to talk about why you MUST have an email opt-in form on your website.
Seriously, it’s not even negotiable.
What business wouldn’t love a list of names and emails about people who are likely to want to buy the products you sell?
Seems crazy, but many businesses don’t bother with this, and they’re leaving so much money on the table.
If you didn’t know – an email opt-in form is where people who come to your website can enter their name and email address to join your mailing list.
Here’s a few big reasons why you should do it:
If you haven’t got it implemented yet, I would strongly recommend getting it done. It can be done in a single day if you know what your doing and your web designer could also do it if you’re not sure.
I hope this has helped explain why it’s so crucial to build your email list and have an opt-in form on your website.

Seems crazy, but many businesses don’t bother with this, and they’re leaving so much money on the table.
If you didn’t know – an email opt-in form is where people who come to your website can enter their name and email address to join your mailing list.
Here’s a few big reasons why you should do it:
- Most customers that come to your website don’t buy anything the first time round.
- You can sell to them many times over, not just hope they buy when they go to your site.
- You can sell more expensive items much easier.
- You increase the life-time value of your customers.
It varies between industries, but generally out of all the people that come to your website, only around 1-2% will buy anything. That means 98-99% of your visitors DONT BUY ANYTHING. Having an email sign-up form means you can capture some of those missed sales because you now have their details. You could end up getting anywhere from 10-40% of those visitors on your database. It’s extremely valuable to your business.
If you get their email address, it means you can contact these people year round. Obviously you don’t want to be selling stuff in every email (a good ratio would be 4 helpful emails to 1 promotional email), but the point is you can now directly communicate with these people. It’s extremely valuable, and you have the potential to make significantly more sales compared to the business which doesn’t capture any email addresses.
When people arrive at your website, they aren’t just going to purchase something that’s a few thousand dollars straight off the bat if they dont know you. They have to get to know you. Once they know/like/trust you, they will be significantly more likely to buy from you.
How much money would your business make if all your customers bought just once? Now imagine how much money would you make if they all bought two times (or more?). The difference in revenue can be massive between the two. Businesses without an email list, usually make the single sale from a customer. Conversely, businesses with a mailing list are the ones who usually make multiple sales from the same customer, because they went to the effort to capture their email details and build a solid relationship with them, based on constantly trying to help their customers out.
If you haven’t got it implemented yet, I would strongly recommend getting it done. It can be done in a single day if you know what your doing and your web designer could also do it if you’re not sure.
I hope this has helped explain why it’s so crucial to build your email list and have an opt-in form on your website.
