G’day guys, Ray Corcoran here.
Today we’re going to be talking about limiting beliefs and how they could be seriously affecting how much success you’re having in your life and in your business.
Basically we all have a set of beliefs, and they affect what we do in real life. We might have certain preconceptions about the way the world is, or whatever; and that affects how we interact with other people and the kind of things that we do.
Within a business; I’ll give you an example. Say, your belief is you think you’re crap at marketing. If you think you’re crap at marketing, that’s going to affect how much effort you put into your marketing. It’s going to affect how much action you take when it comes to marketing. And that’s also going to affect the results you get when it comes to your marketing.
So if you think you’re crap at marketing, you’re not going to try that hard with your marketing, and you’re going to get shitty results with your marketing. And that’s only going to reinforce the belief that you’re crap at marketing.
You’ve got to be very conscious of these things, because they could seriously affect how much results you get.
For the marketing example; you’ve got these certain beliefs that may be completely unfounded (and they usually are). If you think you’re bad at something, you’re not going to try at it, and you’re going to start getting really crappy results.
You need to look within your own self and your own business, and ask yourself, “what things am I telling myself?”
Ramit Sethi, the personal finance guru, he calls them ‘invisible scripts’. It’s just the kind off bullshit we keep telling ourselves that we’re good at, or not good at, or whatever. It really affects how much action we take, and it’s really dangerous if the amount of action we take is very low due to these invisible scripts or these limiting beliefs.
So, have a think about; in your business, what things are you telling yourself? Some people think, ‘I’m not qualified enough’ or, ‘I haven’t got enough experience’ or, ‘who would want to hear from me?’ or, ‘I’m not very good at this, or not very good at that’.
At the end of the day, most people in the market aren’t perfect, and you need to get over the fact that if you’re not good at something, just focus on taking massive action. Just for a moment, disregard the fact that you might not be good at something, and commit to learning it growing. And I definitely believe that you’ll be getting much better results.
That’s this week’s video. I hope you liked it, and we’ll see you next week.
Cheers.
